The much anticipated 4th season of Stranger Things took fans by storm, with its share of shocking new revelations, the discovery of more of Eleven's powers, budding romances, and the Hawkins gang's continued fight against the evil lurking in the Upside Down.

Stranger Things season 4 also introduced fans to a new character, Eddie Munson. The metal head, rebellious Dungeons and Dragons master quickly became a favourite amongst fans, as he took the younger members of the Hawkins gang under his wing and proved to be a character that didn't conform to society's standards, he was not afraid to be different, fans admired this. As quickly as Eddie's character entered the series, his time with the Hawkins gang was tragically cut short. Fans have still not completely gotten over his death in the Upside Down saving his friends.

Looking back, it's understandable that fans are quick to idolise the fallen hero, however, others have taken to Reddit to share an unpopular opinion which turns out to be hard to argue with.

Sean Astin's Bob Death on Stranger Things Was Originally More Gruesome

A thread on Reddit has users discussing a less-than-admirable moment of Eddie's, which shows a more antagonistic side to his character. In the scene in question, he stands on a table during lunch at Hawkins High and starts shouting and insulting other groups of students, like the nerds and the jocks.

Fans of Eddie's are less than willing to accept this, but his words were in poor taste and he had no right to verbally attack those around him who seemed to be just minding their own business. The backlash from the jocks was Jason turning around and calling him a freak, which was an understandable reaction to being insulted. Although Jason's vendetta against Eddie later on in the series made it easy to see him as the villain throughout the season.

One of the Most Intense Stranger Things Scenes Was Totally Improvised

On the other hand, perhaps Eddie's words were just a build-up of frustration at those around him who treated him as an outcast. In reality, it seemed like he was just trying to stir up trouble. Whatever his intentions were, this doesn't justify his actions, it was certainly a bad moment for his character. The unfortunate truth for fans of Eddie Munson is that no character is perfect and although his death was both heroic and tragic, it doesn't excuse any of his wrongdoings, big or small.

Whether or not fans agree that in that instance Eddie was in the wrong, they can all agree on the fact that he was for the most part a person with a good heart and an important part of the latest season who will certainly be missed in season 5.
