‘Resident Alien’ Can Still Return, Even After Cancellation News
It’s sad news that there’s not going to be another chapter following the series season 4 finale, but there’s still a chance we’ll see Alan Tudyk’s alien once more.
The news about SyFy’s Resident Alien cancellation came out of nowhere for many of us, and even the show’s creator, Chris Sheridan, says he would have built the story a little differently, had he known that season 4 is going to be the last one for the series.
As he mentioned in a recent interview with Parade, he is still proud of what they have accomplished this last season, but with a little heads up – he was going to reveal Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle’s true identity to more people.
While there are many hints that Judy Cooper was already aware of his real nature, Sheridan thinks opening up to his other friends would also have been a great way to go.

The series premiered in 2021 on SyFy, with Alan Tudyk playing the titular role of an alien sent to destroy human life on Earth. However, before he could do so, he crash-landed on our planet and took on a human form in order to stay undercover. But the longer he stayed, the more he became attached to humans, developing real feelings and friendships.
Will There Be ‘Resident Alien’ Season 5 & What the Release Date May Be
As for now there’s no good news about Resident Alien being renewed for season 5. And the last episode of season 4, that aired on August 8, is considered the show’s finale.
However, Chris Sheridan is open to the idea of creating a movie or a limited series as a follow-up on the characters lives.
“I think the best “next” story we could tell is five years after Harry leaves Earth, he returns, and we get to see what the characters’ lives are five years later,” he said in the interview with Parade.
If it gets greenlit, we’ll have to wait for at least a year before the release can happen.
