When 'Barry' first aired back in 2018, critics and public were totally unprepared for this darkly funny, surprisingly smart series by SNL's Bill Hader.

Now, after 3 years of waiting for the third season, show's fans are more than ready for the new dose of their favorite comedy.

Season 3 is yet to premiere, but some critics already saw it and honored it with perfect 100% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rogerebert.com's Clint Worthington is happy that 2022 finally marks the return of "one of television's most compelling, darkly comic series stepping back into the light with nary a beat skipped", while "finding new moral complications for its widening cast of characters without losing its offbeat sense of humor". TheWrap's Jennifer Keishin Armstrong describes series humor as "one of the most meaningful, and complicated, uses of dark comedy on television". Variety's Daniel D'Addario sees in 3rd season "a richer and deeper character study than 'Barry' has previously been, and... a pleasing reward for fans who've waited nearly three years for more of this story".

Bill Goodykoontz at Arizona Republic commends Hader's leading turn, stating that "the shocking originality of Hader's performance in the first season can't be replicated, of course, but he manages to maintain the quality of it throughout".

Looks like 'Barry' season 3 managed to justify its three-year absence. The next installment in hitman saga is set to premiere on HBO on April 24, 2022.
