Summary:

  • Constellation is a new Apple TV Plus sci-fi thriller that premiered on February 21.
  • The show stars Noomi Rapace in the leading role of an astronaut, Jo Ericsson.
  • The actress has admitted to have a soft spot for the genre after working with Ridley Scott on Prometheus.

Despite the fact that the number of movies and TV shows in the sci-fi genre continues to grow every year, there are certain titles that can be considered classics. Interstellar, Inception, Arrival – no matter what you think of these movies, everyone knows them.

Ridley Scott's Prometheus can also be considered such a movie. Earning just over $400 million at the box office and receiving mostly positive reviews, it was considered a commercial and critical success upon its release. Noomi Rapace's brilliant portrayal of Elizabeth Shaw is definitely a part of its success.

Now that the actress has moved on to television, starring in another sci-fi thriller, this time on Apple TV Plus, another question arises. Is Constellation in any way similar to Prometheus?

Where Did Noomi Rapace Star Before Constellation?

Though Constellation was not the first sci-fi hit that Noomi Rapace did a chance to star in, the two seem to be incomparable.

Speaking to Space.com Rapace admitted there were some practical things that prepared her better for the genre technicalities on filming set, but, generally speaking, both Prometheus and Constellation have to be considered as standalone pieces with unique stories.

“I had an idea about doing space wirework, even though "Prometheus" was quite different compared to "Constellation." I loved the setup and the possibilities of everything. It's sort of sci-fi or a psychological thriller. Is it in my head or is it real?” the actress explained.

Of course, the setup of the two was quite different, not only in the wire work, but also in the plot itself. Each sci-fi world is unique in the way the creator shapes the world, and although the actress is very grateful to both Ridley Scott and Peter Harness for inviting her into each of them, the experience was different. And it will be different for viewers.

The Apple TV Plus series centers on Johanna "Jo" Ericsson, portrayed by Noomi Rapace. When Jo returns from a failed space mission, she discovers that a few things from her past life are missing, and viewers will join her on a mission to find out what really happened and how she can get her life back the way it was.

The show has already premiered four episodes on Apple TV Plus. Make sure you don't miss out on the rest of the intergalactic adventure by tuning in every Wednesday.
