Righteous Gemstones Fans Slam 'Rushed' Series Finale: 'Worst Season of Them All'

The fourth and final season of The Righteous Gems just wrapped on HBO Sunday night, and let's just say there was a lot going on in the final episode. However, it seems that for many fans, the ending felt forced and unnatural, especially when it comes to certain characters.

Fans say that many storylines were rushed and claim that some lazy writing was also in the picture. It's as if the team didn't know better than to just throw in some solutions without really tying them to the core of the story.

“I feel like there was a lot of pointless filler throughout this season, and the finale really summed none of it up. After Cory’s death, when it switches straight to Kelvin’s wedding I checked the time and couldn’t believe there was only 5 minutes left,” Redditor Wokeben said.

The Worst Arc Ending Was Baby Billy’s

One of the most disappointing final stories was of Walton Goggins ’ character, the beloved Baby Billy. He was known and loved for being the entertainment king in an in-universe young adult show about a teenage Jesus called Teenjus. And he was pouring his heart and soul into the show, often neglecting his family.

And just out of nowhere, The Righteous Gemstones finale sees him shutting down the show as a solution to give the character full redemption and show him being attentive towards his family. And fans couldn’t be angrier about that decision.

“All that we know of Baby Billy is him doing entertainment and he wants to put it on the line for his family. The totally out of character writing here leaves him owing the Gemstone family millions after quitting the show at the last scene. Huh? He carries this vision the entire way to say Nah, never mind is NOT writing. Damn shame imo,” Redditor Crousscor3 said.

Fans say it was a terrible throwaway after the amazing setup and then production of the show, to become Teenjus just to wrap it up and say he had a change of heart. However, some people were kinder to the series finale.

“Rushed finale, but I thought they wrapped it up with good intentions. I think this is the worst season of them all, but still decent. I think the budget for this season was cut significantly too,” Redditor isit65outsideor noted.
