Sometimes controversial reviews are nothing more than numbers, so you better check out what the legendary actor has to offer now.

It's been a long time since big screen actors were skeptical about appearing on TV shows. Now, starring in a high-quality miniseries on a successful streaming platform is just a great addition to one’s acting portfolio and a chance to make a lot of money.

Maybe that's what Robert de Niro, who is no stranger to TV, thought when he agreed to be part of Netflix 's new series called Zero Day, which is now dominating the platform's charts and making it clear that the show is a must-see — even though it’s not exactly a critics’ favorite.

Is Zero Day Worth Watching?

Zero Day is a new political thriller miniseries that is generating a lot of buzz. Some fans say it’s actually quite good, but a lot of viewers ended up having mixed feelings. Let’s try to understand why.

The show stars Robert De Niro as former President George Mullen and follows him as he leads a commission investigating a devastating cyber attack on the United States. As the investigation unfolds, Mullen faces moral dilemmas and confronts his own legacy. The cast also includes Angela Bassett, Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Plemons.

Zero Day has 6 episodes and dives deep into cybersecurity, political intrigue, and the personal cost of leadership. The series has been praised for its powerful performances, though its story has received some criticism. Its Rotten Tomatoes score is far from perfect, with only 54% from critics and 56% from viewers.

“The camera work is indeed creative – they play around with angles and shots that keep you visually hooked. There's definitely a unique vibe to how it's all structured, almost giving you this artsy feel without going overboard. But yeah, the storyline didn’t grab me as much as I’d hoped. It’s like one of those shows where you feel like the look and feel were meticulously planned but maybe not the backbone of the plot,” Redditor Medical_District83 said.

According to fans, Zero Day has some issues with pacing. Viewers felt that there were several storylines and certain scenes that were unnecessarily long and should have been cut. Still, even they admit that the miniseries was worth their attention anyway.

“I thought it was absolutely fantastic in how they wrapped it up. If you can sit until the last episode you’ll be happy you did. It’s extremely relatable to what our country is going through currently and the current mindset so many Americans have towards our country. Shit really resonated with me. I’m also extremely high on edibles,” Redditor Midochondria- said.

Zero Day is available to stream on Netflix.
