While Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 is getting one delay after another, one more major role is coming for the actor in Christopher Nolan’s star-studded epic movie The Odyssey, based on Homer’s legendary poem of the same name.
Featuring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and Tom Holland in the leading roles, the movie will reportedly become the original source material’s first bold adaptation, let alone one of the most anticipated films of the next year.
Like many other A-listers, Pattinson will also star in The Odyssey with a smaller role, though a major rumour suggests that, despite not being present that much on the screen, the actor will be just as important to the narrative as Matt Damon’s Odysseus.

Even though almost nothing has been confirmed about Nolan’s upcoming movie, numerous rumours about the leading cast’s roles have been circulating in the media ever since the project was announced.
Pattinson’s role hasn’t yet been unveiled either, but some sources close to Christopher Nolan’s production team suggested the actor would be taking on the role of Hermes, a Greek god who in the mythology is referred to as a messenger for other, superior gods.
One of the twelve Olympian gods who reside on Mount Olympus, Hermes plays a vital role in Homer’s “The Odyssey” as he’s the one to help Odysseus get back home to Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War.

Despite nothing still being confirmed about the actor’s role and its significance in Nolan’s movie, some fans already lamented Pattinson’s decision to waste his acting talent on a tiny part in the upcoming epic drama.
“So you got the best actor in your cast for 5 minutes in the movie? Christ sake. I hope it's longer than Gary Oldman at least”, Redditor Capable_Handle_4763 ranted in a thread.
“What a world where a mediocre actor like Matt Damon plays the lead and a good actor like Pattinson plays a character equivalent to a cameo”, FastThoughtProcessor agreed.
Others, however, were more positive about Pattinson’s possibly brief, but significant appearance in The Odyssey, saying that the role of Hermes actually suits the actor’s off-camera personality.
“But seriously tho that role would be fantastic for him, he could obviously also play a majestic and imposing God like Ares but I feel like he has a mischievous humorous side irl interviews that doesn’t come out often in acting and for that Hermes would be exactly right”, astralrig96 commented.
