Marvel’s new comic books series featuring a major revelation about T'Challa might have just proved Ryan Gosling’s fan casting for a potential movie has been right all along.

One of the most beloved actors in Hollywood right now, Ryan Gosling has always been a frequent subject of an entire collection of memes, but not all of them can be just as foretelling as a viral Marvel-coded joke.

A look back: Several years ago, the actor went viral due to a pretty random meme depicting him as Black Panther, a character previously portrayed by Chadwick Boseman.

Things have quieted down since then only to resurface just a couple of days ago when a new comic book series titled “Marvel Knights: The World To Come” was published.

Now that a major plot twist in T'Challa’s story is there to process, many fans aren’t so sure Ryan Gosling’s candidacy for a Marvel role can’t be considered.

It’s fair to say that the brand new series has become quite a shocker for many Marvel fans who didn’t believe its writers would go against any logical turn of events.

The issue: The book, written by Christopher Priest, Joe Quesada, Richard Isanove and Richard Starkings, witnesses the death of T'Challa as an old man and then reveals that he has a son who is, well, a white man named Ketema.

The revelation caused quite a stir among Marvel fans, who slammed the writers for a meaningless decision.

On the other hand: Christopher Priest spoke out in his and his co-writers’ defence, saying that the new comic book was never meant to be based on Marvel’s previous stories.

“Our Black Panther is our world to come. It’s completely our own vision of the near future. It is not tied into any other bit of Marvel continuity, which gives us enormous freedom to do things like have Lockjaw show up, so we’re very happy about that. I’m glad that’s finally coming out. It’s been a long and interesting journey”, he said in an interview with AIPT.

Even though some rage towards Priest and co was more than expected, the shocking plot twist actually brought fans to two different sides, with some criticising the issue and others not seeing any issue with it whatsoever.

“Wow. I dunno. You look at a white guy ruling a mainly black country and you say “this isn’t totally weird” forget that he’s gonna be black Panther, whatever, let’s just ignore that black Panther is a hero of black representation and all the other characters barely were representing anything. Let’s ignore that wakanda is a mainly African Country that is about to be ruled by a white man”, Cloud_Smoking shared in a thread.

“I read somewhere that the writer got tired of only being called in to write black characters. Maybe this is just him lashing out? Also I don't really see a problem with this as we've had the reverse happen a dozen times by now”, ErikT738 retorted.

Some people immediately thought of Little Mermaid, as well as the many other characters whose race swaps have caused controversy online.

“Everyone who made excuses for race swapping Little Mermaid and a hundred other characters has to zip up about this lol”, DemonBearOP suggested.

Others also reflected on the Ryan Gosling meme, with JLD2503 saying “I guess that Ryan Gosling Black Panther edit is real now” and miikro adding “I'm just Ken. Turns out I'm secretly Wakandan…”
