Ryan Gosling Snaps, Ferrell Can’t Stop Him — Meet 'Tough' Guys, Amazon’s New Comedy Duo

What happens when Hollywood’s favourite heartthrob teams up with the king of comedy? Apparently, chaos, charm and a lot of broken bones — metaphorically and otherwise. Ryan Gosling is officially done playing nice, and we’re here for it.
According to Deadline, In Tough Guys, a new action comedy in the works at Amazon MGM Studios, Gosling and Will Ferrell are set to share the screen for the first time. And no, it’s not a sequel to The Nice Guys or The Other Guys. It’s just… guys being very tough. As one fan on Reddit joked,
"This is what happens when Ken snaps and Ron Burgundy doesn’t stop him."
According to early reports, the story centres on two career henchmen — you know, the anonymous goons who usually get punched out by the hero halfway through a heist. Except this time, they’re sick of being cannon fodder. They rebel against the criminal underworld and start rewriting the rules. Think John Wick meets Step Brothers, but somehow more unhinged.
The project was born from a spec script by Daniel Gold and is currently in early talks, with Gosling and Jessie Henderson set to produce via their Open Invite banner. Ferrell will likely produce through Gloria Sanchez Productions alongside Jessica Elbaum, while Trevor Engelson and Aaron Folbe are circling as executive producers. No director attached yet — but imagine if Greta Gerwig did?
Whether it ends up as a genre-bending masterpiece or a glorious mess, one thing’s certain — we’re witnessing the birth of a buddy duo that could break the comedy-action scale.
