When casting lists grow longer than the screenplay itself.

Ryan Reynolds will bring Deadpool into Avengers: Doomsday. The actor confirmed it with a playful Avengers logo 'edited' in his own style, and Marvel sources quickly backed it up.

Exciting news, of course — but also a curious one. How do you fit Deadpool’s R-rated humour into a PG-13 world already crowded with capes?

A Story Still Unwritten

Filming began in April 2025, but the script is still being rewritten daily. Kevin Feige calls this 'plus-ing.' The Russo Brothers, fresh from recent misfires, are shooting scenes without knowing exactly who is in them. Bold experiment, or recipe for disaster?

Casting vs. Story

The list of names is staggering: Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, with Avengers, X-Men and more stacked on top. Add Reynolds to the mix and it feels less like a narrative, more like a roll call.

Marvel’s Gamble

With costs already edging toward $400 million, Doomsday could outspend Endgame. But can Marvel’s ambition survive its own weight — or collapse under it?
