Safe Snacking: A Vet Shares the Ultimate List of Human Foods Your Dog Can Actually Eat
Even if you aren’t very generous giving your dog food from your table, some of it can still be an actual poison for the pet.
Despite a variety of dog food and snacks offered in every pet store across the world, many can find it hard to resist their dog’s teary eyes when it comes to it asking for something their owner is eating at the moment.
Since those store snacks are pretty expensive, dog owners mostly prefer some healthy options they can find in a normal grocery store, like some fruit or berries. However, you still have to be very selective when choosing what to offer to your dog, otherwise it might turn into severe health issues.
What Snacks Can You Offer Your Dog?
Apart from those sweet treats you can buy in a pet store, you can also choose from the list of healthy products in case you’re worried about those store snacks’ quality.
According to animal experts, you can (sometimes!) give your dog boiled meat like chicken or turkey, hard-boiled chicken egg without the yolk, raw vegetables like zucchini, carrots, cucumber or bell pepper; cooked vegetables like zucchini, carrots, pumpkin, broccoli or cauliflower; apples, pears, bananas (in small amounts!), berries (watermelon without seeds, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries); milk products without additives (kefir, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, fermented baked milk); hard and low-fat cheese.
What Can You Not Offer Your Dog?
Some products can harm or even possibly kill your dog, so make sure you don’t offer these to your dog even in the smallest amounts possible.
The list includes chocolate, bones (especially small ones), raisins, grapes, raw yeast dough, avocados, onions, garlic, beer, milk, sausages, baked goods, raw eggs, raw fish, boiled potatoes, and mushrooms.
