Be sure you’ll make the actual copycat of the original fast food dish.
Even though some of the most famous meals belong to fast food restaurants, it doesn’t mean you can’t prepare them in the same way at home (and for a way cheaper price). This might be the case of the now iconic Chick-fil-A chicken salad that you’ve likely already tried somewhere in diners.
Well, the good news is that you’ll need some basic ingredients to make the same salad at home — and it will likely taste even better than in fast food restaurants.
Here’s what you need: 3 cups of finely chopped cooked chicken breast, ½ cup of finely chopped celery, ¼ cup of sweet radishes, ½ cup of mayonnaise, 1 finely chopped hard-boiled egg, 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional), ½ teaspoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional, for a hint of sourness); bread, crackers, or lettuce leaves for serving.
Prepare the chicken: boil it, bake it, or use leftover roasted chicken. Chop it finely so it mixes well with the salad.
In a bowl, combine the chopped chicken, celery, radishes, and hard-boiled egg. Gently toss to distribute the ingredients evenly.
Add mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Stir until the chicken is coated with the mixture. Adjust the amount of mayonnaise to achieve the desired texture.
Add lemon juice for a light touch of tartness, if you like. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
Chill the salad and serve on toasted bread, croissants, crackers, or in lettuce leaves as a lighter option.
