Severance S2 May Bring Back 3 Seemingly Forgotten Characters, Fan Theory Says
What lies ahead?
Severance season 2 premiered last week on AppleTV+ after a long hiatus, and it was literally one of the most anticipated comebacks of 2025. And the series’ director Ben Stiller and writer Dan Erickson made it impossible for fans not to wait for the second chapter, having ended season 1 on a major cliffhanger.
Well, the first episode was excellent in many ways. The main cast yet again showed how talented they are, and the writers made it clear that they are preparing a real roller coaster for us. But there’s one thing that left the viewers a little disappointed in the first episode.
The thing is, the season started with Adam Scott’s character Mark S. coming out of the elevator and running around Lumon in order to find someone. He does find Mr. Milchick, who tells him that his team is waiting for him, but instead escorts Mark into the room where he finds 3 strangers instead of Helly, Dylan, and Irving.
Of course Mark was frustrated by this, and frankly so were the fans, but unlike him, the fans soon realized that the creepy team number 2 was not that bad and should stay in the show longer. Gwendolyn Y., Mark W. and Dario R. are as quirky as they come, but they are the exact representation of Mark's old team.
Although the guys had almost no screen time, they still became fan favorites, and now Reddit is full of theories speculating about their comeback. One of the theories we liked the most is that the choice of these three people is not an accident.
“My theory about them (and this is really based on zero evidence at this point), but I think we are going to see at least one, maybe all of their outies playing a significant role in bringing down Lumon from the outside,” Redditor Zerostar39 said.
If that's the case, then Milchick and the board would be eager to bring their innies to Lumon to have some sort of control over them. And even though it’s based on zero ground, it feels like the second episode, which fans are sure will show the real world perspective of recent affairs, will give us a closer look on wherever the new MDR team comes from.
Severance is available for streaming on AppleTV+. New episodes come out every week, and the next episode will premiere on Friday, January 24.
