All of these clues are vague, but they all seem to point to a tragic outcome.

Severance is not just a series about work and personal life, it is a deep philosophical allegory about life in the technological age.

The show is full of hidden details and visual clues that fans have learned to recognize over two seasons. And the visual language of the latest episodes leaves viewers with nothing but concern for one of the most beloved characters – Irving.

Recent Episodes Have Left Visual Clues to Irving's Fate

Irving has already experienced one death – his innie was literally killed after the man nearly drowned Helena to make Milchik return Helly. Perhaps, as fans suspect, the same fate awaits him in the outside world.

Reddit user MibikKibik noted that the camerawork may hint at Irv's future – in recent episodes, we were shown Irving's head cut out of a watermelon, as well as several shots where his head appears to be separated from his body.

Episode 6's Name Attila Has a Deeper and Darker Meaning

In addition, many paid attention to the title of the sixth episode and the story behind it. Attila is a leader who united the disparate tribes of the Huns and led them in successful raids across Europe.

Attila and his brother Bleda were named co-rulers of the Huns in 434, after which the two brothers began to strengthen the empire. Their joint rule did not last long, however. In 445, Attila killed Bleda and became sole ruler.

Considering that Burt and his husband Fields call each other Attila, it's safe to assume that Burt will somehow be involved in Irving's supposed death. The man is clearly hiding something and has a longer, deeper connection to Lumon and severance than we thought.

Chikhai Bardo Also Has a Direct Connection to Death

The title of the seventh episode, Chikhai Bardo, is also related to the theme of death. Chikhai Bardo is the fourth of the six bardos that the human soul experiences – three during life and three after death, according to the Tibetan Book of the Dead or Bardo Thodol.

Chikhai Bardo begins immediately after death. This is the moment when the dying person encounters the pure light of reality – the foundation of all existence. This is the light of the true nature of mind, which frees the soul from illusion.

However, the perception of this light depends on the degree of spiritual development. People who are prepared for death are able to merge with this light and achieve liberation. For most, this radiance is too bright and frightening, causing them to avoid it.

The title of the seventh episode clearly hints at the death of one of the characters, and with all these clues pointing to Irving, he may well end up as a victim of Lumon's dark and mysterious plans.
