Sex Education Cast Is About To Reunite, But There's a Catch
Fans will have to do without Otis in this one.
As Sex Education fans patiently await the season 4 release date, the cast has prepared the most surprising gift for them.
It turns out that there will be a chance to see Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey and Connor Swindells reunite on the big screen for Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, which will be released on July 21, 2023.
Barbie's big cast was a total surprise to everyone until yesterday when the production team released the first character posters and a brand-new trailer.
Of course, those who follow industry news already knew that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling had been cast as Barbie and Ken, but no one expected to see so many actors playing their respective roles of... well, also Barbies and Kens.
From what we can tell from the posters, Emma Mackey, who played Maeve in Sex Education, will be taking on the role of a Nobel Prize-winning Barbie. Ncuti Gatwa, known to Sex Education fans as Eric, will be another of the many Kens.
Connor Swindells, Sex Education's Adam, would not be a part of the Barbie universe himself but will take place on the human corporate side as an intern.
Even without much more information about their characters, fans are already head over heels for just the idea to see the actors reunite on screen.
However, some loyal Sex Education fans are wondering if Gerwig's Barbie has something to do with Emma Mackey and Ncuti Gatwa's decisions to leave the show after the upcoming seasons.
Both actresses confirmed that they had spent their last days on set saying goodbye to their characters.
Could this be related to pursuing roles on a larger scale after Barbie comes out?
While Gatwa's departure from Sex Education can easily be linked to his becoming the 15th Doctor in Doctor Who, Mackey has yet to share any further news about her career.
Fortunately, with season 4 of Sex Education already confirmed and in production, with all the main cast members still in their respective roles, there is more for fans to look forward to this year.
However, no official release date has been set yet, so we may have to wait a few more months. In the meantime, you can re-watch seasons 1-3 of Sex Education by streaming it on Netflix.
