Silo Fans Aren’t Happy with a Major Romantic Plot Twist Season 3 May Introduce
After two seasons that clearly avoided introducing the plot line, fans of the show aren’t sure they really want it after all.
Based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of books, Apple TV ’s Silo starring Rebecca Ferguson in the leading role is one of the best adaptations on modern TV. However, just like with many other popular series, for some fans Silo still might fall short of its original source.
Warning: major book spoilers ahead!
The show has been praised by many viewers, but some of those who read the books couldn’t just ignore the fact that the show differentiated its plot in one major way — surprisingly, many viewers are pretty much content about it.
Silo Hasn’t Introduced a Romance Between Juliette and Lukas Yet, But Should It?
Even though the romantic relationship between the two characters play a major role in the original books, some fans are reassured that the show would be just fine ignoring the plot twist.
One Redditor on the show’s subreddit published a post saying that the romance between Juliette and Lukas doesn’t really make sense and “they didn't seem particularly affectionate (which could come down to the stress of being in positions of power) and the time they did spend together felt awkward and like they were both irritated with each other.”
The post eventually got a lot of attention from other fans, with the user nicknamed stordl01 stating that “in the books it was passable, but still didn’t really feel like it was earned, but in the show it was just odd. They talked like twice and then he’s trying to kiss her.”
Many others added that there was literally nothing for Juliette and Lukas to connect on.
Silo Creators Might Still Change Things in Season 3
While fans seem to be more than happy about the show’s decision to stay away from this romantic storyline, Silo’s showrunner Graham Yost does feel like the series needs to follow the books.
Speaking to TVLine recently, Yost hinted at the fact that the show is only taking things slower since nobody wanted to rush Juliette into new relationships after George’s death. According to the showrunner, the writers “needed to pay deference to that "original sin," because George’s death is what engaged Juliette and leads her on her course of action.”
That said, Silo’s season 3 now has a potential to give Juliette and Lukas’s relationship a major update since now Juliette has passed enough time recovering from George’s death — though, whether it will become a plot twist that fans will appreciate, remains a big question.
