Tony Stark really pulled a teenager into warfare.

In the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker is just 15 years old. This age is repeatedly emphasised — both through dialogue and in the visual details of his character: school uniform, homework, and efforts to hide his superhero identity from Aunt May.

The filmmakers intentionally focused on Peter’s youth. Tom Holland, who played the role, appears younger than his actual age, and his character behaves like a typical teenager — emotional, insecure, and eager to prove himself.

This approach stands in contrast to earlier adaptations, where Parker was portrayed more as a college student.

The new Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is distinctly a high schooler — young and inexperienced, yet already caught up in the Avengers’ affairs and serious battles. His age plays a crucial role in his development; he’s not yet a full-fledged superhero, but someone still learning how to become one.

And alongside the audience, Spidey matures. In No Way Home, he turns 17 — and with that comes deep loss: his aunt dies, his friends vanish from memory, and the world forgets who he is. By the film’s end, Parker chooses to start anew. It’s a soft reboot of the character’s story — but one that carries emotional weight within the Marvel universe.
