And even the highest ratings didn’t save it.

Summary:

  • So Help Me Todd ’s cancellation news came in as something truly shocking for the show’s fans who were quick to take measures against CBS’ brutal decision.
  • The successful series being scrapped by the network also left many viewers bewildered as So Help Me Todd was a thriving project with no real reason to get abandoned.
  • Yet even with CBS’ decision remaining in place, the show’s chances to not be completely scrapped are quite high due to another possible turn of events.

CBS has been quite brutal with its most successful shows officially cutting off big hits like NCIS: Hawai’i, CSI: Vegas and, more notably, So Help Me Todd. The cancellation news took the fans completely off guard leaving them to wonder why the high-rated show was eventually scrapped so unfairly.

Driven to the extremes, some even created a public petition pleading the channel to finally listen to the people who wanted nothing but to get their favorite series back.

Despite such a persistence worthy of everyone’s respect, the whole social media fuss has quite low chances to ever resurrect So Help Me Todd on CBS given that the main reason for its cancellation doesn’t really have to do with its high ratings.

The good news here is that the long-suffering show may be easily picked up by another studio thanks to the fans’ activities.

Will So Help Me Todd Be Revived?

According to Variety’s reports, So Help Me Todd wasn’t really a flop when it comes to ratings — quite the contrary, they were good enough to keep the show afloat for at least a couple more seasons.

What came in here as a real threat that eventually swept the series from CBS’ plan is that the network was so busy renewing several other shows like, for example, Elsbeth, that the channel eventually ended up with no room for So Help Me Todd in the primetime schedule.

Some may surely argue here that the show’s impressive ratings should’ve done their part when making such a decision. The CBS’ response here could’ve boiled down to the fact that those ratings weren’t in fact impressive enough to ditch other promising projects for So Help Me Todd’s sake.

Yet it’s still not time for fans to lose their heart seeing how their favorite show is being thrown away with no reason. Television history has a whole collection of examples showing that a project abandoned by one studio can be easily picked up by another one — if there are big reasons for doing so.

So far the chances are that So Help Me Todd may earn some other major network’s attention while CBS has no room for it. If the stars do align for the show, its high ratings will most likely keep living on with some new seasons approved.
