Recent news about Sheridan’s clash with Paramount+ caused concerns about the future of his Yellowstone franchise and many other big hits. Here’s why we’re sure that nothing bad is happening.

Taylor Sheridan ’s collection of extremely successful TV series has recently faced a major threat after Paramount+’s policy change, but the director’s words might indicate a good outcome after all.

For years, Sheridan has been attached to the streamer with a major deal both sides have signed, with Yellowstone ’s creator giving his TV gems to no one else but only Paramount+, boosting the company’s subscription sales.

However, things got fragile when Paramount+ had its financial priorities shifted alongside its department head — still, there’s a reason to believe Taylor Sheridan isn’t going anywhere far from the streamer.

The fuss started several weeks ago when it was reported that Paramount Streaming Chief Cindy Holland proposed a new plan for the streamer’s future, suggesting the company give $9 million top per episode of its ongoing original shows.

This got into a major contrast with the reality that Sheridan’s TV series are living in, as each show’s episode cost is estimated between $12 million and $16 million.

Sheridan himself was rumoured to be furious upon the news leak, which also caused some rumours about the director’s plans to move his entire TV collection to some other platform, and it would gladly welcome it.

However, this won’t be possible in the upcoming couple of years anyway — the deal signed by Sheridan and Paramount+ is valid until 2027, which means the former will still have to consider the streamer’s position until at least that year.

What Can Potentially Stop Taylor Sheridan From Leaving Paramount+?

Apart from the huge success all of his shows found on the platform, it might be the community Sheridan would rather stick to.

In a statement for the Bloomberg newsletter, Sheridan revealed that he had already made an attempt to leave the network in the past, but that didn’t work out and eventually paid off with a bunch of TV series which boosted both Sheridan and Paramount+’s popularity.

However, there was something else the director appreciated when it came to the creative process, and it’s Paramount+’s media executive Chris McCarthy Sheridan has to thank for it.

“He doesn’t pretend he knows how to write a screenplay or direct a movie, and I don’t pretend I know how to program. He tells me when things need to air, and I deliver”, he added.

Considering that it might take a while for Sheridan to find the same connection within other streamers’ headquarters, he probably doesn’t even think of moving his shows to somewhere else — especially since he might be the busiest man alive with all those new seasons he’s loaded with.
