Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Now Has Official Release Date, Cast Lead Confirms
The franchise sticks to the same old scheme with its next chapter.
One of last year’s biggest box office hits, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has just landed on digital platforms, but the franchise has some other major news to share with fans.
Following the overall success of the latest instalment, Sonic the Hedgehog’s creators now officially embark on a new chapter, getting everything ready for a fourth movie — which, by the way, has already secured itself a release date.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Will Follow the Franchise’s Long-Standing Release Tradition
According to Deadline, the next instalment is now set to hit the theatres on March 19, 2027; earlier the future movie was said to be heading towards a Spring release window, but no exact date was given then.
The news also got one more confirmation from Sonic the Hedgehog’s voice lead Ben Schwartz who took it to his social media and just couldn’t keep his emotions under control.
Now that all is set for the franchise’s return in 2027, it is clear that the next film will arrive 2 years and 3 months after the previous movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, that premiered back in December last year. The time gap between the two is similar to the one that two first installments had, only with a slight difference of just one month.
What Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Will (Probably) Be About
There’s nothing yet to say about the upcoming sequel’s plot, but some fans may find it a good idea to start from what the previous movie introduced to them in the first place.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 dived way deeper into the original videogame’s story, bringing Metal Sonics and Amy Rose to the screen, thus suggesting that they might be the ones to push the next instalment’s storyline.
Others also noted that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is likely to adapt the plot from Sonic CD games which feature both Metal Sonic and Amy Rose’s debut in the franchise. This comes as an exciting guess considering that both games are fun-favourite classics which will potentially become an even more compelling adventure once it’s brought to the big screen.
