It could either go Buffy or Grey's Anatomy way, and no one is sure what to expect.

No matter how far away the show is from music, there is something so endearing about the concept of musical episodes that writers and showrunners cannot stay away from them for long.

Whether it's a high school drama, where a musical is more appropriate, or a fully operational hospital, you can expect your favorite characters to burst into song at any given moment.

And if you thought the spaceship would be a place 100% safe from the second-hand embarrassment of seeing performances that don't fit the universe, you were sorely mistaken. As Paramount Plus announced during the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the next show to jump on the musical hype train and try to make it work.

It's safe to say that the announcement didn't go over well with fans of the franchise. Even though the show's creators promised to tie the episode's plot into the Star Trek universe in a way that viewers wouldn't feel like it didn't make sense, people don't seem to be impressed. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts immediately after the trailer was released.

"Who is this for? People who don't like Star Trek? People who like Star Trek don't want this," Twitter user metspolice said, replying to the Star Trek official Twitter account.

On the other hand, not everyone was opposed to the idea. While some viewers prefer more dramatic and serious storylines, others feel that the franchise has never taken itself too seriously, and now is not the time to start.

Whether you are Team Musical or prefer more chill episodes, an episode called Subspace Rhapsody is not to be missed. First trailer of an episode promises a lot of beautiful performances to look forward to, and if you won't find yourself enjoying them, there's always an option to forget it ever happened.

Tune in to Paramount Plus on Thursdays to never miss another Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode.
