These scenes from different parts of the franchise touched the hearts of fans and proved that Star Wars is much more than just space battles and flashy lightsabers.

Star Wars is full of epic space battles and intense lightsaber duels, along with some compelling character arcs that evolve over the course of several films.

But there are also a surprising number of emotional moments, some of which may even make fans cry.

Here are the top five moments that left no fan of the franchise indifferent.

5. Rogue One Ending (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)

After our heroes sacrificed their lives to deliver the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance, the audience was given a surprising revelation.

No one could have expected that after one of the best Darth Vader scenes in the entire franchise, it would all end with Leia aboard the Tantive IV.

This whole sequence, with the slow realization that it all ties into the beginning of A New Hope, was done absolutely perfectly, and it made a lot of fans really emotional on their first viewing.

4. Ahsoka vs. Darth Vader (Star Wars Rebels)

The finale of the second season of the animated series was absolutely beautiful, as Ahsoka Tano finally confronted her former master and dear friend after all these years.

This scene was absolutely heartbreaking, and hearing her say, "I won't leave you. Not this time" had some fans choking back tears.

3. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (Episode III – Revenge of the Sith)

This climactic duel between master and apprentice was an absolute highlight of the prequel trilogy and one of the best moments in the entire franchise.

Say what you will about the acting in these films, but Ewan McGregor did a fantastic job of conveying his character's pain.

"You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you" is one of the most emotionally devastating lines in all of Star Wars.

2. Series Finale (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)

When the long-awaited final season of The Clone Wars finally arrived after a six-year hiatus, it did not disappoint and served as a great conclusion to the beloved series.

After Ahsoka and Rex bury their fallen comrades who turned against them because of Order 66, the Jedi leaves her lightsabers at the site.

Viewers are then treated to a final moment as Anakin, now fully transformed into Darth Vader, arrives at the improvised graveyard.

He digs up a lightsaber of his former Padawan, lights it and looks at it for a moment. An absolutely beautiful ending to the great series that made many fans cry.

1. Luke taking off his father's helmet (Episode VI – Return of the Jedi)

The best scene in the original trilogy and arguably the most emotional moment in the saga, this moment is perfect for showing that the most iconic villain of all time is still human underneath his menacing black armor.

Hearing Vader say, "Let me look on you with my own eyes" broke fans' hearts and, along with the rest of the dialogue, completely changed the perception of this tragic character.
