Star Wars: Starfighter Struggles as Top Hollywood Actors Reportedly Turn Down Roles

Ryan Gosling is confirmed to lead Star Wars: Starfighter, but other big actors seem to be scared of joining the epic franchise. Here are some possible reasons why.
Star Wars ’ next big movie set to be helmed by Shawn Levy might be signalling a major crisis for the franchise, and Mikey Madison turning one of the roles down isn’t the only proof.
A little before it was officially confirmed that Ryan Gosling will take on the leading role in Star Wars: Starfighter, the news broke about Anora’s Oscar winner refusing to join the actor in one of the other major roles.
It’s not the biggest issue though, as Madison is now just one of many more Hollywood biggest stars who don’t want anything to do with the sci-fi franchise’s next instalment.
Star Wars: Starfighter Has So Far Been Rejected by at Least 5 Big Actors
The movie is yet to reveal who else will join Ryan Gosling in another intergalactic story, but insider Daniel Ritchman’s report suggests there aren’t so many volunteers.
More specifically, other major roles in the movie have already been offered to Civil War ’s Jesse Plemons, Killing Eve ’s Jodie Comer, Past Lives’ Greta Lee, Succession ’s Sara Snook and Anora’s Mikey Madison, but all of them didn’t hesitate to say no.
It might be due to the fact that Starfighter is rumoured to have a much more humble budget than Star Wars’ previous epic movies.
Among other possibilities is also the toxic atmosphere in Star Wars’ headquarters since Disney and Kathleen Kennedy gained control over the franchise.
Star Wars Fans Already Have a Bunch of Jokes About Ryan Gosling’s Role in Starfighter
While Shawn Levy might be desperately looking for more cast members for the already failing movie, the franchise’s fandom doesn’t waste time, trying to figure out what Ryan Gosling will be like in the Star Wars universe.
“Hopefully they can get Russell Crowe too, and we can have Nice Guys in space and stuff”, Redditor friggintodd wrote in a franchise-related thread.
“Does this mean Emma Stone is the first Sith?”, Prestigious_Fish_709 wondered.
“Use the force, Ken”, nerdgeekdorksports encouraged while stoneman9284 revealed they “can’t wait to see his jacket”.
When Is Star Wars: Starfighter Being Released?
The movie is set to arrive in theatres on May 28, 2027.
