Why force the topic so much?

When a streaming platform has a new favorite, it’s only natural that the fans will start asking all sorts of questions about its plot and character development. There will even be a few disappointed and angry comments as well.

But what we can't understand, for example, is this particular complaint that Netflix 's The Night Agent keeps receiving. It seems that some people think that the show lacks... sex. And the reasons why they think there should be more such scenes may seem a little bit bizarre.

The Night Agent’s ‘Lack of Sex’ Is Actually a Good Thing

One of the points is that the action thriller genre (which The Night Agent is a great example of) has to revolve around a romance/passion story between the main character and his female sidekick. Maybe someone watched a little too many James Bond movies and now expects the femme fatale storyline everywhere…

Another reason some viewers expected more sexy scenes is even bolder. It has been said that the actors who play the main characters and each other's eventual love interests are too hot. Apparently, if there is obvious chemistry between the couple, it should be shown to the viewers so that they can understand that the two of them really like each other.

However, the reasonable part of the series’ fandom seems to disagree with that point of view. The Night Agent is a show starring Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent who works in deep connection with the Oval Office. And the viewers simply don’t need any forced sexy or even romance storyline into this challenging, character-based action thriller.

“The fact they didn’t have much time for more than a few hugs and a kiss was good because it added to the time constraints they were under in the storyline. I don’t understand the “forced” love story comments though. I love Rose’s character and there has to be some weakness to what is our near invincible superhero character,” Redditor Outrageous_Plate_778 said.

The Night Agent Can Teach Other Action Thrillers a Good Lesson

If anything, The Night Agent escaped the fate of Reacher, the series that creeped out viewers with its sex scenes. There weren't many of them, but they all felt forced. And the way the creators filmed them was ridiculous and unnatural.

“Reacher is bored with it also. Look at the sex scenes in s1 & s2 - the women make the first move and Reacher is like: "I don't have a place to go or do so why not." Another thought I had was that he was thinking ok, I'll have sex with you if it will get you to stop talking,” one Redditor said.

Regardless of what the media demands of the genre, fans think it's completely unnecessary to throw sexy scenes into the series just for the sake of it. And honestly? We agree with them. Nothing looks more ridiculous than a shirtless scene of a man before he goes to fight bad guys for the safety of the nation.

The Night Agent is available to stream on Netflix. Season 2 premiered on the platform on January 23.
