These shows never intended to leave us hanging for this long.

The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes meant a well-deserved victory for Hollywood workers behind these series, but a long wait for fans who have been eagerly anticipating the next installments.

Stranger Things Season 5

The two installments of Season 4 were released in 2022, and set Stranger Things as the most streamed Netflix show of the year. The sci-fi thriller once again followed the gang on another treacherous adventure that involved Russian prisons, demogorgons and the revelation of the biggest villain yet, Vecna.

Season 4 was the most dramatic and traumatic, featuring the death of Fan Favorite newcomer Eddie Munson and ending with Hawkins literally on fire as the portals opened and Max was left clinging to life.

Pulling off one of the most successful Netflix series of all time is no small feat, and is a big part of the reason we'll be waiting until at least 2025 for the next season. The show uses extensive VFX and many filming locations, which adds time to the delays already caused by the strike.

Nonetheless, the menacing pull of the Upside Down will continue to hold us until its late 2025 or even early 2026 release.

In the meantime, we'll keep Running Up That Hill on repeat.

Euphoria Season 3

It's been just over 2 years since the last season of the glitzy, addictive teen drama starring Zendaya, and getting Season 3 in 2024 is as likely as Nate Jacobs choosing Cassie over Maddie.

The series was delayed due to director Sam Levison's focus on The Idol, but writing for Euphoria's third season has finally begun. With each episode taking about a month to film, we won't be getting any Euphoria until 2025.

There are talks of the possibility of a time jump in Season 3 after Zendaya, who has taken on an executive producer role, shared this:

'I think it'll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school. I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look.'

Along with more heated drama, iconic makeup looks, and edgy songs, we can also expect a tragedy. After the tragic passing of Angus Cloud in July 2023 due to an accidental overdose, it is almost certain that the soft-hearted drug dealer Fez will be written out of the upcoming season.

Yellowjackets Season 3

Season 2 was thrilling, violent and stomach-churning, and Season 3 is set to continue that streak, not this year, but next year.

The cast and crew have teased a bloody Season 3, as we discover more of the dark secrets kept between the girls, as well as further details into the heartbreaking Shauna scene.

After a burning cabin, unsettling cannibalism, the tragic death of a core character, and the revelation of a dark presence that followed the girls after their rescue, it's easy to understand why fans are anxious for the continuation.

Series co-creator Bart Nickerson teased; 'We're big fans of clue climaxes and so decisions were made and what those decisions mean will be a big part of season three,'

Yellowjackets Season 3 was one day into writing when the strike was called and pencils were downed, and was resumed last September.

It will be another year before we further uncover the dark truth behind the girls and their 19 months in the wilderness.

The Last of Us Season 2

The post-apocalyptic series took fans on an epic journey of healing and survival, as Joel and Ellie became an unlikely father-daughter duo, battling fungus-controlled-zombies and running from raiders.

Season 1 ended with Joel (Pedro Pascal ) going beast mode and brutally killing members of the Fireflies who planned on harvesting Ellie's brain in order to study her immunity.

A second season was confirmed after just two episodes of Season 1, and is set to begin filming this February. Better yet, co-creator Craig Mazin has teased future seasons:

'There's more story, so this show will not end with season two unless people don't watch it, and we'll get canceled.'

We're anxiously waiting to see the aftermath of Joel's complex moral dilemma, and Ellie's suspicions of what actually happened.

The prequel series to the IT franchise was announced back in March 2022, and is set in the 1960s following the events leading up to the events of the first IT film.

With the director from the previous IT films Andy Muschietti working as executive director, we know it will be a terrifying expansion of Stephen King 's horrifying tale.

Originally aiming for a 2024 release, the series announced a 2025 release due to delays. It was also revealed that Bill Skarsgard would not be reprising his role as the child-eating Pennywise. However, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, James Remar and Chris Chalk were among the first names announced for the bloody prequel.
