Though Stranger Things Season 3 gets a lot of stick online (and especially on Reddit), some Redditors are going against the grain a little and saying that the peak moment happened way back in this season. Let's see what they had to say about it.

"The Battle of Starcourt" S3 Ep8

According to Reddit, Season 3's finale, "The Battle of Starcourt", was the best episode of the whole series. Before we go into the reasons, let's take a look at what happened in this episode.

The episode begins with Eleven screaming in pain as the Mind Flayer's piece in her leg writhes about. After Jonathan attempts to cut it out, Eleven chooses to use her powers instead due to the pain. The adults get involved and arrive on the scene, and together they agree to fight the Mind Flayer.

The Biggest Reason Behind Billy Still Being One of Stranger Things' Most Popular

There's a huge battle with Russians, adults, and the kids and it culminates in both Hopper and Billy sacrificing themselves to save the others.

The episode ends three months down the line with The Byers and Eleven moving to California. There's a lot of love-declaring going on and tears too.

Why do Redditors hail this episode?

There are a few reasons why many believe this to be a peak moment of the series. Firstly, Hopper choosing to sacrifice himself to try and end the battle certainly adds to his character.

Secondly, we have Billy who, right before he dies, chooses to save Eleven and apologizes to Max, which rounds up his character very fittingly. Unlike Hopper, whom we're led to believe isn't really dead, it's clear that Billy is, and it's a nice way for his death to be marked.

A Surprising Connection Stranger Things 4 Has to Nightmare on Elm Street

Though Stranger Things has many emotional moments, it's Hopper's letter that has a lot of viewers reaching for the tissues! It was certainly a highlight of the season and series.

Finally, many Redditors love the Neverending Story aspect of the episode. It has been highlighted that this wasn't just an amusing moment but rather a great way of breaking all the built-up tension in the episode.

Though there are many excellent moments in this Season 3 finale, could Redditors really be right that this is the peak moment of the whole series? It's hard to say. There are so many fantastic scenes in this show that it's hard to pinpoint its peak. And this is especially true since there are still more episodes to come! Watch this space.
