Despite cancelation, Suits LA managed to do a lot of good for its predecessor, Suits. This is especially true when it comes to providing much-needed clarity on Jessica Pearson’s storyline.

NBC shocked the fans of legal drama with recent news about cancelling the newcomer, Suits LA.

However, despite being canceled, the series still cleared a great injustice that was following the Suits franchise from the very beginning.

Although Jessica Pearson never appeared in Suits LA, the show still gave her a proper backstory, allowing fans to understand the events and people that shaped the Jessica we knew in Suits. Despite even the existence of the short-lived spinoff of her own, one major untold Pearson story never came to light until Suits LA subtly brushed against it.

What Do Jessica Pearson and Erica Rollins Have In Common?

Before Suits LA aired its final episode, we witnessed an unlikely bond forming (it was foreshadowed, but still). We saw Erica becoming a partner in record-breaking speed although in the first episodes we hardly see her even working. And whatever breakthrough happening in her career was all thanks to Ted or Leah helping her.

However, as the story goes, it’s getting clear that she is becoming a mentee to Ted, and that he truly sees potential in her, although even stating out loud that he would have preferred Rick to stay instead of her.

While we’ll never know how this decision would have affected Erica’s future, it's clear that it sets her up for a bright professional future. Looking at that, one might ask why Jessica was never given a backstory like that when she was definitely on the same trajectory as a junior.

Jessica’s rise to power could have been one of the most remarkable storylines in the original series. Even if it were delivered through flashbacks (which were used quite a lot in Suits), it would provide insight into the woman whose name tops her firm’s letterhead, yet who still seems to desire more control.
