All because of the directors other plans.

I faced the headlines with a sinking feeling. Another delay? More whispers about Swamp Thing and Dawn of the Jedi getting quietly pushed aside?

For fans like me who’ve been clinging to every sliver of news, it’s hard not to imagine these movies vanishing into development limbo. But take a breath — this isn’t a permanent stall, just another pit stop.

James Mangold is reportedly lining up High Side — a motocross heist thriller with Timothee Chalamet — before jumping into his DCU and Star Wars commitments.

The duo already made waves with last year’s Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, and while their reunion makes sense, it does push things back.

That said, Swamp Thing isn’t in danger. DC Studios’ Peter Safran has confirmed they’re willing to wait specifically for Mangold. His words made it clear: the movie will be made with him or not at all. As for Dawn of the Jedi, things are less solid — but Lucasfilm hasn’t pulled the plug.

So yes, we’re waiting. But no, we’re not losing them. And honestly? I’d rather Mangold take a small scenic route than rush through two of the most anticipated genre films on the horizon.

Should Mangold prioritise Swamp Thing and Star Wars next?
