This is a rare example of absolutely reckless and truly infectious humor in modern cinema.

Quentin Tarantino is in the spotlight again, but this time it's not because of his controversial comments about actors. This time, it's because of his unexpected cinematic verdict.

Quentin Tarantino Reveals the Most Hilarious Movie of the Last 20 Years

On Bret Easton Ellis podcast, the director revealed his personal list of the best movies of the 21st century. Among the acknowledged masterpieces, Jackass: The Movie made the cut.

Tarantino called it the funniest film of the last twenty years and said that he hadn't laughed so hard since watching Richard Pryor perform. Tarantino said:

“This was the movie I laughed at the most in these last 20 years. I don't remember laughing from beginning to end like this since Richard Pryor.

As I was making Kill Bill, I thought this movie was so f*cking funny I had to show it to the crew. So we found a print, watched the movie, and just died.”

What Is 'Jackass: The Movie' About?

Tarantino Names This 49%-Rated Comedy the Funniest Movie He's Ever Seen:

There's no real plot – Jackass: The Movie is a series of extreme, absurd, and often dangerous sketches and stunts.

Dressed as pandas, the characters destroy a golf course, experience wild animal bites, and conduct cruel yet comical experiments on themselves.

'Jackass: The Movie' Grew Out of the Popular MTV Show of the Same Name

Released in 2002, Jackass: The Movie was a natural extension of the television show's format. By then, the show of the same name had been entertaining and shocking audiences for several years.

With a larger budget and greater freedom, the creators didn't change the show's core – they simply increased the scale of the madness.

The filming techniques improved and the locations became more diverse, yet the spirit remained the same: a raw, cynical, and utterly sincere spectacle about a group of men who never grew up and turned their lives into a permanent, painful carnival.

'Jackass: The Movie' Was at the Center of a Scandal (Undeservedly) During Its Release

Jackass: The Movie was immediately met with a wave of criticism. The main argument was that the movie glorified self-harm and risky behavior and could encourage imitation among minors.

The situation was further complicated by an incident in which a 12-year-old boy suffered serious burns after attempting a stunt he saw in the movie. Despite the film's strict R rating, the public and media quickly blamed the filmmakers.

As is often the case, rather than discussing the responsibility of parents and theaters that allowed children to attend, all the blame was placed on the filmmakers.
