Tarantino Wants to Make a 'Kill Bill' Prequel, but It Might Not Be His 10th Film
The Kill Bill story might not be over yet.
Quentin Tarantino, who has said that he plans to retire after his tenth movie, seems eager to return to one of his most iconic franchises.
At the premiere of the short film Yuki's Revenge, released on Fortnite, the director shared an idea that has excited Kill Bill fans. Tarantino plans to make a prequel that explores the past of the saga's main villain.
Quentin Tarantino Wants to Make a 'Kill Bill' Prequel About Bill's Past
Tarantino doesn't want to continue Beatrix Kiddo's story, rather, he wants to delve deeper into the origins of her archnemesis.
The director has expressed interest in telling the backstory of Bill – the man who shot the Bride at her wedding – and the three men who shaped him. Tarantino said:
“I've got other things to do. I have a whole Kill Bill idea in my mind but I was wiped out. I like the idea of a Bill origin. And the three godfathers that made Bill: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. Will I live long enough to do that? That remains to be seen.”
It Is Unlikely That the 'Kill Bill' Prequel Will Be Tarantino's 10th Movie

Despite its promising concept, it is unlikely that this project will become the tenth and final movie in the director's filmography. Tarantino considers the original Kill Bill duology to be one cohesive story, as evidenced by the recent release of an extended, combined version.
Furthermore, Tarantino may hand over the directorial reins to another director, as he did with the sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which is currently being filmed by David Fincher.
Thus, a Kill Bill prequel is more of a passionate desire than a clear plan, and its realization remains highly uncertain.
Tarantino's Last Movie Was Supposed to Be 'The Movie Critic', but He Abandoned the Idea
While fans speculate about the future of Kill Bill, Tarantino continues searching for the perfect script for his tenth and final film. He previously worked on a project with the working title The Movie Critic.
The director admitted that he challenged himself to see if it was possible to make an engaging film about what he called the most boring profession in the world. However, his enthusiasm waned during the process.
Tarantino concluded that a story about a film critic would likely not captivate a wide audience, so he abandoned the idea. He is now on a creative quest once again.
