Tati Gabrielle’s Role as Nora in The Last of Us, Explained

The Last of Us’ latest episode has dropped several bombshells about numerous dangers on Ellie’s way, including Abby’s group mate Nora portrayed by a pretty prominent actress. Here’s where else you might have already seen her.
If you thought Joel’s death was the most definite point of no return in The Last of Us, the show’s episode 5 might have given a huge update to it.
The HBO series has just reintroduced Nora, a military medic and one of the members of Abby’s group that killed Pedro Pascal’s character in the second season’s episode 2.
Apart from another major plot twist about the cordyceps infection, the latest episode also delves into a confrontation between Ellie and Nora, hinting at the latter’s gruesome end by the time the next episode arrives.
However, Nora has so far spent enough time on the screen for you to recognise her from somewhere else — and it has something to do with Netflix’s recent big premiere.
Who Portrays Nora in The Last of Us?
In the show’s season 2, Nora is played by Tati Gabrielle, an American actress who has become some kind of regular for movie and TV adaptations of Naughty Dog, the company that developed The Last of Us game.
Before joining Abby’s group to bring Joel to justice, Gabrielle also showed up in a 2022 action adventure movie Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which also came as an adaptation of Naughty Dog’s game of the same name.
On top of that, you might have seen the actress on the screen even more recently, with her reprising her role of Marienne Bellamy in the final season of Netflix’s You.
What Happens to Nora in The Last of Us, Explained (Spoiler Alert!)
Even though it’s pretty clear that Ellie is determined to finish what she started in that fight scene in episode 5’s ending, Nora’s arc will still take an unexpected turn before the character is killed off.
In the show, Nora is seen being tortured by Ellie who demands that she tell her where Abby is. Initially Nora refuses, though the game’s plot line suggests she does surrender and gives Ellie the information about where she could potentially find Abby.
Despite following her own plan and getting rid of at least one member of Abby’s gang so far, Ellie is left traumatized by Nora’s death, specifically because, even with tens of people she had to kill before, Ellie never had to torture someone defenceless prior to brutally murdering them.
It’s Nora who will become one of the key figures in Ellie’s realization that the cycle of violence started with Joel’s death needs to be brought down after all.
When Is The Last of Us Next Episode Being Released?
The show’s season 2 episode 6 will arrive on Max on May 18. The remaining episode 7 will be released on May 25.
