Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Gets an Update Fans Have Been Waiting for Months

The first season had raving success on Paramount+ back in 2024, letting the show become one of the most watched projects in the streamer’s history.
Ever since the second and final season of his show 1923 premiered back in February, Taylor Sheridan has been continuing his successful streak with a bunch of ongoing series.
The writer-director has sealed a major deal with Paramount+, letting the company acquire rights for streaming his most acclaimed shows like a spy thriller Lioness, as well as Western-y stories 1923 and Landman.
The latter and its potential second season had everyone talking since the first instalment wrapped up in January with the later revealed viewership results which cleared all possible doubts about the series’ continuation. However, the official confirmation hasn’t come until only now.
Landman Season 2 Is Officially in the Works
Fans can now stay reassured that Landman isn’t going anywhere so far as, according to Variety, the show has just been renewed for a second season by Paramount+.
The news comes several weeks after the production for the upcoming instalment was rumoured to start on February 28, with Taylor Sheridan filming new episodes in several Texas locations.
Additionally, Landman’s second season was repeatedly teased a couple of times before that as the show’s supporting actress Demi Moore had previously revealed that another instalment was in Sheridan’s plans. The series’ first season also wrapped up with a major cliffhanger, leaving Tommy Norris’s fate at M-Tex a mystery.
Landman Is the Biggest Hit in Paramount+’s History
Having premiered back in November, the show opened to the most watched global premiere and then concluded with the most watched finale of any series in the history of Paramount+.
Landman also secured its lead actor Billy Bob Thornton a Golden Globe nod, all the while making it to the top of Paramount+’s most successful series of all time.
According to the president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks Chris McCarthy, Taylor Sheridan’s massive hit owes its status to its creator’s “unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-western themes of rugged individualism, ambition and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth”.
The show’s second season is now expected to premiere sometime in 2026, the first instalment is streaming on Paramount+.
