Now that the first Final Destination: Bloodlines trailer is released, let's take a look back at how the directors got this gig.

The Final Destination franchise returns to life after a 14-year wait with Final Destination: Bloodlines. What makes this comeback extra special, though, is the passionate duo behind the camera: Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. Besides the simple fact that they are talented filmmakers, there's also the fact that they are true super fans of the franchise.

We all know how hard it is to get the lead on such a big project. Directors, like actors, often have to find interesting ways to prove they can pull it off.

And, oh boy, did they prove to be the right fit for this job.

The Most Shocking Job Interview in Hollywood History

Or, dare I say, the smartest one?

Back in 2022, The Hollywood Reporter revealed the absolutely wild story of how these directors secured their positions, and it's almost too good to be true.

It was the most casual pitch meeting you can imagine. Lipovsky and Stein sat side by side, with a burning fireplace behind them (what could possibly go wrong?). As the meeting was drawing to an end, the fire flared up to the point that the mantel started to burn. The directors rushed to extinguish the flames, while the executives watched in horror as the scene unfolded.

As soon as the room filled with a sense of relief, a strange noise creaked. The ceiling fan went off and, in one horrifying second, decapitated one of the filmmaker's heads. A moment of silence... aaand then the meeting finally broke into laughter. It did not take that long to figure out what was going on. This was just a clever prank, pulled by Lipovsky and Stein to convince the execs that they are, in fact, perfect for this job.

That's definitely one way of proving that you understand what makes Final Destination work: shock, horror, and, undoubtedly, dark humor.

It's safe to say that 14 years of anticipation did not disappoint. The new movie seems more rewarding than ever with these creative minds. Lipovsky and Stein clearly understand how to make a scene work. Their take on the series promises to honor what fans love dearly.

The first trailer for Final Destination 6 is already available; the movie will hit theaters on May 16, 2025. For now, we're just out here, hoping that the Zoom meeting was recorded and one day it will grace our screens.
