Though many of us are used to enjoying the most tender whipped cream they prepare for the local bakery’s best sweet treats, quite few know that the cream can actually be made at home just in minutes.

All you need is three simplest ingredients — just follow the easy instructions below, and you’re all set for the most delicious decoration for your desserts.

Ingredients: heavy cream containing at least 30% fat, powdered sugar, vanilla extract (optional).

Make sure the cream is cold — this will make it easier to whip.

If you like, chill the bowl and whisk in the freezer for 10–15 minutes beforehand.

In a large bowl fitted with a whisk attachment, combine the cold cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

Whip on high speed until stiff peaks form — this usually takes 2–4 minutes.

Check for doneness: if the peaks remain in place when you lift the whisk, the cream is ready.
