The recipe that will turn out just perfect even for those who don’t really enjoy cooking.

It can be really difficult to plan home parties with friends after a hard day at work or doing house chores, and sometimes you can even forget you’d planned a surprise dessert for those coming to visit you.

However, the internet is full of recipes for all kinds of cakes that can be prepared in less than an hour, plus not requiring exotic ingredients that are difficult to find in your local grocery store. In case you’re running out of time to make a delicious dessert, here’s your life-saver.

Ingredients: 130–140 g of flour, 2 eggs, 120 g of sugar, 1.5 tsp of baking powder, a pinch of salt, 100 g of butter, 50 g of milk, 2–3 tsp of instant coffee, 1 tbsp of cocoa. For the sour cream topping: 3 tbsp of cocoa, 3 tbsp of powdered sugar, 3 tbsp of sour cream, 40 g of butter.

Start by beating the eggs with sugar and a pinch of salt until fluffy. Then add the softened butter and mix thoroughly. Add the flour, baking powder, and cocoa, and mix with a mixer until smooth. Dissolve instant coffee in hot milk and pour it into the dough, then mix again.

Line an 18–20 cm diameter pan with parchment paper and pour the dough into it. Bake at 180 °C for about 30 minutes, checking for doneness with a wooden toothpick.

While the cake is in the oven, prepare the topping: add cocoa, powdered sugar, and sour cream to a saucepan, heat over low heat, stirring constantly with a whisk until smooth. Add butter and heat until it melts. Take off the heat and let the topping cool to room temperature.

After the cake is baked, let it cool and cover it with the prepared sour cream topping.
