It seems we have more pastries to look forward to!

Summary

  • The Bear Season 3 is in active production.
  • A new clip from the set hints at Will Poulter's presence in the upcoming season.
  • Apparently, his character will be working more closely with Carmy and the rest of The Bear.

The second season of The Bear proved to be as stress-inducing as it was profound, intimate and heartwarming, so it's no surprise that it received even more prestigious nominations and awards than the previous one. In addition to the storyline revolving around the titular restaurant and its staff, no less dramatic were the star cameos that appeared either as relatives of the protagonists or as prominent personalities in the restaurant world.

One of the most unexpected, but certainly welcome cameos came from Will Poulter, who played the former colleague of Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and new mentor to Marcus (Lionel Boyce). And now a new set video has surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Poulter in attendance. All this means that the actor will return to the series and his role may be expanded to a recurring one.

New Set Video Hints at Return of Talented Pastry Chef

In Season 2, when Marcus suffered an apparent identity crisis, Carmy arranged to send him to Copenhagen not only to hone his skills, but also to help him regain his footing and see if he truly wanted to keep working as a chef. The Denmark episode proved to be much more tranquil than the hustle and bustle of Chicago and perfectly captured Marcus' newfound serenity.

Will Poulter appeared in the episode, playing an English pastry chef Luca. As part of the training, Marcus discussed with Luca their relationship with families and the motivation that drives them to work in the culinary field.

Poulter has made one of the many star cameos alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Olivia Colman, Gillian Jacobs and more. However, he was the one who was spotted on the set for the upcoming Season 3, and judging by the new video, his role in the upcoming events will be even more significant. Check out the video below.

What Can We Expect From Will Poulter's Character in Season 3?

While there's not much to glean from this clip, a number of details give us some insight into the upcoming events of Season 3 and how Luca might be involved in them.

First, it's worth noting that the character is not just the acclaimed chef that Carmy sends Marcus to, the plot suggests that they know each other personally and even once worked and competed at the same restaurant, most likely in New York City, run by a toxic and abusive chef portrayed by Joel McHale. However, the fact that Carmy sent Marcus to Luca suggests that the two have long acknowledged and learned to respect each other given their shared abusive experiences, making Luca's upcoming collaboration with The Bear more than plausible.

Second, the video doesn't take place in Copenhagen, but apparently in Chicago, which means that Will Poulter will actually appear either in a cameo when his character visits The Bear or as Carmi's new restaurant partner, and considering their past rivalry and likely still-present trauma, one can imagine how vibrant and wild the duo's dynamic will be. Or maybe Luca doesn't come to see Carmy at all, but to find out how Marcus is doing, for whom he's also become a mentor.

Let's also not forget that last season, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) caught the restaurant's new line chef, Josh (Alex Moffat), smoking meth, so there's definitely a vacancy at the restaurant now.

Well, we'll see what the writers have in store for us next season. The third season of The Bear is in active production back-to-back with Season 4. Season 3 is scheduled for release in June 2024.
