Seems like Antony Starr's talent goes unrecognized.

The Emmy nominations are out and fans of The Boys are feeling a bit miffed. Why, you ask? Well, it seems our favorite laser-eyed Homelander, brilliantly portrayed by Antony Starr, didn't make the cut.

Not just him, but none of the cast members from The Boys got a nod in the acting categories, despite The Boys submitting its fifteen cast members for 2023 Emmys. Ouch, right?

The nominees for Lead Actor in a Drama Series (that’s the category fans expected Antony Starr to be included in) are Jeff Bridges from The Old Man, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong from Succession, Bob Odenkirk from Better Call Saul, and Pedro Pascal from The Last of Us.

All these big names deserve to be nominated, even though many people think that three actors from the same TV show (Succession) in one category is a bit too much. All great actors, no doubt, but where's our Homelander?

Now, The Boys did get a couple of nominations, but they're in the categories of Outstanding Sound Editing and Outstanding Stunt Coordination. Not exactly the recognition fans were hoping for, especially considering the stellar performances by the cast.

Since its release in 2021, The Boys was nominated for six Emmy Awards (plus two now), including Outstanding Drama Series in 2021. Unfortunately, the show didn’t take home any of them.

Some fans argued that Antony Starr isn’t a lead actor of The Boys. However, he is. He is not the protagonist, that’s true, but if you take Homelander’s screen time, it is about the same as Butcher’s, Hughie’s, and Starlight’s. So Antony Starr would be absolutely eligible.

It’s a shame Starr was never nominated for his portrayal of Homelander. Starr's performance is nothing short of brilliant. He manages to make Homelander terrifying yet oddly sympathetic, a balance that's hard to achieve.

However, Starr’s performance in the superhero satire was noted by other awards. He took home the Critics' Choice Super Awards for Best Actor in a Superhero Series and Best Villain in a Series in 2021 and 2023.

He was also nominated for the Saturn Awards for Best Actor in a Streaming Television Series in 2022 and the Critics' Choice Awards for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2023.
