The first teaser for The Boys’ final season seemingly features a happy ending for the main antagonist, but there’s still a chance that another character will change this outcome.

The confrontation between the good and the evil will definitely go to another level in the final chapter of Eric Kripke’s hit superhero TV series The Boys, and a major character from another show might save the day after all.

Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Boys is set in the world of superpowered individuals that use them as an advantage to manipulate the general public and take it all for their own good.

Among those, Antony Starr’s Homelander has been a pretty toxic leader who cared little about staying truthful to his words, leading many fans to speculate about the character’s possible death in the upcoming fifth season.

However, another fan theory suggests The Boys franchise’s other series is about to introduce a major threat that will signal the start of Homelander’s inevitable downfall.

‘The Boys’ Fans Think ‘Gen V’ Cate Dunlap Will Bring Homelander Down

Serving as a spinoff series for The Boys, Gen V introduces another side of the comic book story by following young superheroes that strive for joining The Seven, Vought International’s elite superhero team.

One of those ambitious students is Cate Dunlap whose telepathic abilities brought her all the way forward to becoming one of the superhero team’s members.

Since both Cate and Homelander operate closely with Vought, with the latter still being obedient to the company, some suggested Gen V’s character might be scheming against Homelander, preparing to get close to him and take away all the information that Vought needs right now.

In fact, considering that Cate is just as ruthless as Homelander himself, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see her plan his killing, also bringing down his corrupt and pretty authoritarian system.

Eric Kripke Says Homelander Is “Literally All Trauma” in ‘The Boys’ Season 5

While the show’s previous season made it clear that Antony Starr’s character is about to enter his most depressing era yet, The Boys’ creator Eric Kripke teased more hardships for Homelander to come, probably hinting at those becoming the reason for his demise too.

“He’s literally all trauma. I think what he plays so beautifully about it is he wants to be a god, but he’s a man. And it’s kind of slowly, or maybe not so slowly, driving him insane”, he said during his appearance at a recent FYC panel (shared by Variety).

Apart from that, Kripke also added that Homelander’s programmed need for love will also become one of the “normal human things” that he needs but despises, which will potentially result in the character’s failure due to insecurities.

The Boys’ season 5 is now slated for a 2026 release.
