Missed this crazy period drama? AppleTV+ is bringing it back soon.

What's better than a Gilded Age drama to set the mood for the day when you're tired of your modern day shenanigans and just want to dive into the world of historical drama and intrigue?

While there are many different shows with a similar premise, such as Bridgerton, this period drama from AppleTV+ is definitely something else. The Buccaneers premiered in November 2023 and quickly established that it was going to win some hearts.

Based on Edith Wharton's unfinished novel of the same name, The Buccaneers is set in the 1870s and explores the lives of five wealthy and ambitious American women as they navigate the culture clashes of London high society while trying to find love.

We met them all, developed different feelings for them, and since Season 1 revealed so many secrets and left us on a cliffhanger, we've been waiting for the show to come back soon.

When Is The Buccaneers Coming Back?

Lucky for us, AppleTV+ has already set the date for the show's season 2 premiere! So mark your calendars, June 18 is the day. This will be the day the first episode arrives on the platform, with new episodes releasing weekly every Wednesday through August 6, 2025. So the second season will consist of eight episodes.

AppleTV+ has already released a teaser for the show's comeback, and while it is only a short video, it has everything we love about The Buccaneers: the modern vibes mixed with the time period.

What About the Cast and the Story?

Season 2 will of course feature many familiar faces, like Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth, Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George, Christina Hendricks as Mrs. St. George, and Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable.

Other returning cast members include Guy Remmers as Theo, Duke of Tintagel, Matthew Broome as Guy Thwarte, Josh Dylan as Lord Richard Marable, Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown, and Adam James as Colonel Tracy St. George.

The most talked about new addition to the show is Leighton Meester as Nell, and the new images released by AppleTV+ of her in period costumes only prove that adding her to the cast was a great choice.

There are rumors that she would play Nan’s long lost mother, but we’ll have to wait to find that out.
