Back in heels, but still waiting on the pages.

Nearly two decades after The Devil Wears Prada strutted onto screens, Emily Blunt has confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is finally heading into production next month. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Blunt jokingly danced around the topic before blurting out the update — only to immediately ask her rep, mid-interview, "Am I allowed to say that?" Clearly, Miranda Priestly isn’t the only one who inspires fear.

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, Blunt did admit that she hasn’t read a script yet and has no idea what her character, the memorably sharp-tongued Emily Charlton, will be up to this time. "It’s so weird, I haven’t even read a script. I don’t know. I’m just like, 'Where is she?'" she laughed.

What we do know is promising: original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is returning, and director David Frankel is expected to reprise his role behind the camera. Though casting hasn’t been officially confirmed, the film is slated for release on 1 May 2026 — marking the 20th anniversary of the original — and a reunion with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep seems all but inevitable.

Whether the story will follow Lauren Weisberger’s book sequel Revenge Wears Prada or chart a new path is still unknown. For now, it seems the fashion world’s most fearsome boss and her assistant — are due for a long-overdue comeback, with just enough mystery to keep us on our toes.
