Jensen Ackles explained his side of the conflict over the Supernatural prequel series between the actors playing the Winchester brothers. Turns out it was a simple misunderstanding.

Back in 2021, Supernatural fans were shocked twice. At first by news about a potential Supernatural spinoff featuring the parents of Dean and Sam Winchester and then by the reaction of Jared Padalecki who tweeted that his co-star Jensen Ackles despite being the executive producer and writer for the upcoming spinoff hadn't shared any information about it with him.

"This is the first I've heard about it. I'm gutted," Padalecki wrote.

After Padaleski's tweets had the effect of a bomb exploding on the Internet, Jensen Ackles talked to his Supernatural co-star and made peace with him, which resulted in a heartwarming exchange between the two actors on Twitter the next morning. The friends defused the situation, explaining to fans that the sequel was at an early stage, calling each other 'brothers,' and confessing their love for each other.

Later, Jensen Ackles explained what exactly happened that day and why he hadn't disclosed the Supernatural spinoff to Jared Padalecki before writing about that on Twitter. Turns out, like many other actors, Supernatural star is superstitious and thinks it is bad luck to share the news about any project until it's a done deal.

Looks Like Jared Padalecki is Involved in The Winchesters More Than You Thought

The supernatural spinoff was Ackles' first attempt to produce and create content, so he was eager to not jinx the project. That's why he decided to keep the prequel a secret from anyone, including his own mother and Supernatural co-star until he was sure the show was happening. But somehow Deadline managed to dig up the information about the spinoff and published an article about it.

Ackles said he had to react somehow. So while being on the set of The Boys in Toronto where cell phones were forbidden the actor was only able to take a few seconds to cobble together a short tweet which resulted in all the drama between him and his former co-star.

According to Ackles, the speed of the events made him forget that he hadn't told anyone about the prequel yet. But when after a day of filming, Ackles realized how bummed out Jared Padalecki was by the news, his heart sank. The actor said he called his friend at once and explained everything, after which the issue was resolved and friendship restored. "Bumps don't stop us," Padalecki wrote the next morning.
