Good Doctor is not so good at one thing: realism, according to fans.

Have you ever thought about whether The Good Doctor TV series is really good at showcasing how things roll in a hospital? Well, we are about to find out.

A Reddit discussion made experts and fans speculate whether techniques and surgeries are accurately shown in the series.

Some fans say it's a financial aspect that is not realistic enough. According to some viewers, the financial aspect depicted in the show is not very realistic.

As per their observations, the show fails to address the cost of experimental surgeries, including the possibility of insurance coverage.

The viewers have pointed out that in one of a recent episode, the hospital performed an extensive 8-hour surgery, possibly costing millions of dollars, without any discussion about the financial implications.

While the patient's life may have been saved, the family is left with the burden of medical debt for the rest of their lives.

Others have expressed their doubts about the accuracy of the portrayal of experimental treatments. They have observed that the show's depiction of the administration of investigational drugs appears to be far from how it works in reality.

In their opinion clinical trials are the norm when it comes to testing experimental drugs.

They find it unrealistic that such drugs are readily available for administration to patients without going through a rigorous process of criteria evaluation and approval.

A lot of viewers found it unrealistic that there was no vascular surgeon or a team of specialists overseeing surgeries.

Their view is that the fellowship is not depicted accurately as orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery have their own separate residencies, and it is not possible to do a fellowship after general surgery in these areas.

This is in contrast to cardiothoracic surgery, surgical oncology, trauma/critical care, and minimally invasive surgery, where it is possible to do a fellowship after general surgery.

However, let's not forget it is a TV show, and a great one. So even though it's not 100% accurate, its primal goal is to entertain.

And we think the show is realistic enough to be loved and enjoyed.
