The movie holds up to today's standards and is a great option for repeat viewings.

For some reason, many of us associate the holiday season with watching classic movies from the '80s and '90s, as it brings back nostalgic memories of many of us huddled around the VHS as a family, or alone on the couch in front of the TV, getting into the spirit of the upcoming holidays.

And, of course, this era of cinema was marked by an incredible number of high-octane action movies, including those starring the almighty Arnie as the cold, but quite capable of learning human emotions Terminator.

Although the original The Terminator, released in 1984, is one of the most significant works of its time, defining pop culture for years to come, the second installment, Judgment Day, will forever be remembered as one of the best sci-fi films in the history of cinema per se.

Critics praised the action sequences, the direction, the music, and the underlying themes, while fans continue to appreciate the story of a boy who finds a father figure in the form of a cyborg who, in turn, learns to be human. Is there any other reason to revisit this movie? Especially now that it is available on Prime Video!

Where and How to Watch the Classic Action Movie (Including Prime)?

1. Prime Video

Terminator 2: Judgment Day recently became available on one of the best platforms for cult classics, Amazon Prime Video. The movie is available in several options:

  • If you combine a Prime subscription ($14.99 per month and $7.49 per month for students, both of which offer a 30-day free trial) and the basic Paramount+ plan ($5.99 per month) or the one with SHOWTIME ($ 11.99 per month, seven-day free trial).
  • If you purchase the movie on the Prime platform (SD for $9.99 and HD/UHD for $12.99).
  • The movie is also available for rent in SD or HD quality for $3.99.

2. Paramount+

The main platform for viewing the second installment of Terminator is still Paramount+. With one of the two subscription plans, you can watch the movie on the main site as well as through a special application. In addition to Prime, you can also subscribe to Paramount+ through The Roku Channel if you've already purchased a Roku device. The price of the channel will remain the same.

3. Hulu

To watch a movie on this streaming service (the ad-supported plan costs $7.99 per month and the ad-free plan is $17.99 per month), you need another subscription, this time to Showtime, which is also owned by Paramount. The Showtime repertoire for Hulu subscribers will cost you $10.99 per month.

4. Fubo

As with Hulu, Fubo users will need the Showtime add-on. A subscription plan with the latter costs $74.99 per month, or $10.99 per month if you already have a Fubo subscription.

5. Other Platforms

Terminator 2 is also available for purchase or rental on other platforms, including iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Microsoft and DirectTV. Rentals cost $3.99 and purchases cost $9.99 (although a purchase on Microsoft is just $4.99).

Why is T2 Worth Watching in 2023?

It's impossible not to mention the endless talent of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong. Their performances were incredibly vivid, their characters sympathetic and ambiguous: the T-800, though acting on behalf of Skynet, managed to become attached to humans as events unfolded. The T-1000, on the other hand, was a stark contrast, being the perfect killing machine despite being more human-like.

Everything from the expressive special effects to the themes of humanity, son-father relationships and the dangers of artificial intelligence make Terminator 2 one of the best options when you can't decide what to watch!
