Why Is My Cat Eating 24/7?
If your cat spends all their time by their bowl or comes up way too much during the day, it’s a sign that they follow their natural instincts. As scientists highlight, in the wild cats are more used to eating frequently, but in small portions, which boosts their metabolism. Since domestic cats are also prone to be led by their ancestors’ behavior model, it’s not really surprising that they demand food from their owner 10 times a day or more.
Another reason why your cat can eat all the time is that they have nothing else to do; if you own a small space, your pet might lack some essential activity. To prevent this, make sure the cat has all sorts of toys to play with, with those allowing them to get some dopamine boost from playing and not from eating.
Still, Constant Eating Might Signal a Problem
In a smaller number of cases, the cat’s constant desire to eat despite being full might indicate their food’s low nutritional value or even the pet’s possible health problems. If the food doesn’t have enough protein or fat, your cat’s body won’t receive nutrients it needs and will thus signal constant hunger.
In its turn, a sudden increase in appetite can also mean your pet is going through some serious medical condition, so make sure you consult your local vet if nothing else helps.
