The Juiciest American Meatloaf: A Foolproof Recipe for the Perfect Family Dinner

Every continent and country has its own food traditions, but the meatloaf is a pure synonym of American cuisine. The dish is a perfect match for those craving for something savory, but not willing to spend hours in the kitchen just to eat it all in ten minutes.

Even though it’ll take you a bit more than an hour to make a meatloaf, it will be just enough for your entire family to get full.

Here’s what you need: 500 g ground beef, 1 onion, 1 egg, 100 g breadcrumbs, 100 ml of milk, 6 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 1 tablespoon of sugar, salt and pepper to your liking, vegetable oil to your taste.

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Next, prepare the coating: combine the sugar, mustard, and 5 tablespoons of ketchup. Put it aside.

Finely chop the onion. Mix it with the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, and milk. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Add 1 tablespoon of ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

Form the minced meat into an oblong loaf. Place in a greased baking dish. Cover the meat with the prepared glaze.

Bake in the oven for 1-1.5 hours until done. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer — clear juice should come out.

Serve the meatloaf warm, cut into slices. The dish goes well with mashed potatoes or fresh vegetables.
