The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Only One Good Thing So Far

Fans are raging over The Last of Us season 2 plot, though having nothing but praise for the leading cast’s new addition.
Things have just started swirling for The Last of Us ’ season 2, but some big problems might be already in.
HBO’s hit dystopian series has returned with the new season’s first episode, though many have been quick to question all those glowing reviews the instalment received from critics — at least when it comes to being faithful to the original video game.
There is, however, something to make up for the initial disappointment, and according to fans of The Last of Us, it's all down to a new actress who has just joined the cast.
The Last of Us Fans Say Isabela Merced Is ‘Perfect’ as Dina
Despite the first episode just being a starting point, the show’s fans have already chosen their new favorite character, portrayed by The Last of Us’ newcomer Isabela Merced.
“Shocked at how perfect of a Dina Isabela made”, Redditor AnActualSadTaco commented while BitterBubblegum called the character “a charming scene stealer”.
“I loved the chemistry between Ellie and Dina. I feel like in the game I couldn’t care less about Dina, the show really added personality to her I think”, evileyesol chimed in, adding that the series’ new season does sound quite promising, mostly due to Merced and Bella Ramsay’s performances.
Why The Last of Us Fans Aren’t Happy About New Season, Explained
Even though the brand new episode was dropped just several hours ago, the show’s audiences had enough time to figure out several major problems the new season has already introduced.
Naturally, the new episode got many of the video game’s fans mad since its very beginning.
“Man, revealing Abby’s intentions in the first 10 minutes really lessens the mystique of the entire season. One of the things I loved upon my initial playthrough of the second game was that I had no idea who she was or how she was related to the story…” ComebackChemist commented.
They were later joined by others who also stated the show had kicked its second season off with a fatal mistake, introducing “a young and sadistically vengeful Abby” who was nothing like this in the game’s starting point.
“It would have been much more impactful to show her as being primarily full of grief in the flashback, and then end the episode with that look on grown Abby’s face that shows she is purely out for blood”, brownarmyhat vented.
The Last of Us Season 2 Release Schedule
