How much money will it take to recreate those flooding scenes? The Last of Us Part II isn't the cheapest to adapt, but money isn't the be-all and end-all.

The second season of The Last of Us is moving towards its finale, but there's an elephant in the room that's getting harder to ignore.

Season 3 is happening and it will adapt Abby's side of the story. However, some fans are already questioning whether or not the production will sacrifice one of the most important scenes from the game in order to save some money.

Fans are quite worried about recreating those insane Seattle environment shots from the game. Showing a post-apocalyptic Seattle where nature has totally taken over isn't going to be cheap.

“How are they going to film the environment? Especially when we get into Abby’s Seattle Day 2; the verticality, the flooding? How are they going to film that without a billion dollar budget? Or are they just…not going to do it? The return to nature is a huge part of TLoU.” Redditor Serpico2 pointed out.

While HBO has shown tremendous faith in The Last of Us, throwing money at the problem isn't necessarily the solution. The immersive quality of the video game poses quite a challenge that even the biggest budget might struggle with. That’s why the best solution would be a big set for all the difficult sequences.

“I'd expect one big, flashy set piece to showcase the flooding and the bridges. The budget is big but it's not unlimited. Actually filming these parts of Part 2, at HBO's standard, would be unreasonably difficult and expensive,” another fan, ArsenalBOS on Reddit wrote.

Money Should Not Be the Main Concern for ‘The Last of Us’ S3, Plot Changes Should

Knowing HBO and its desire to actually keep the audience coming back for more, it’s safe to assume that we should not worry about the quality of the future Season 3. Instead, we just can’t help but wonder what changes they’ll make next.

We’ve seen a lot of changes done in Season 2 already. And many viewers have criticized HBO for deviating too much from the original plot. But what do you think?
