If you can't help but hate Aemond after the final House of the Dragon episode this Sunday, keep in mind that he might have just made a mistake.

Warning: the following article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon episode 10

The House of the Dragon season finale was pretty heart-wrenching to watch, especially that very moment between Aemond and Lucerys which could have been a messenger exchange but quickly escalated into a tragedy.

Even though Aemond's audacious endeavor ended in a tragic death of his nephew, people still realize that it was an accident and not his devious plan.

Still, fans can't help but blast Alicent's youngest son who essentially turned himself into a kinslayer.

"If there completely was a concerted effort to not start the war, Aemond wouldn't have asked for his eye, then chase him on a war machine, even if just to scare him. Kinda forgot all his philosophy and history lessons there," Redditor yellofrog argued.

Other fans recalled the showrunners aiming for House of the Dragon to be "a Shakespearean tragedy, which means tons of misunderstandings, and constantly coming so close to a fair end only for it to be ripped away until nothing is left but suffering."

The Wait for House of the Dragon Season 2 Will Be Ridiculously Long

However, now that Aemond played too much, it'll be "a son for a son" instead of an eye for an eye, fans note. With Blacks now being infuriated by the death of Rhaenyra's son, it's no longer important whether this death was accidental or not.

In order to witness the aftermath, House of the Dragon fans will have to wait for at least a year before a new season of the prequel comes out. HBO is yet to announce the premiere date for House of the Dragon season 2.
