The Only Side Dish You Need: This Classic American Potato Salad Will Steal the Show at Your Next BBQ
Only four simplest ingredients are required.
Even with all the variety of the extremely delicious food in haute-cuisine restaurants, it’s usually the simplest dishes that bring us the biggest joy, and the American potato salad isn’t an exception.
Made of the ingredients you can get literally everywhere, this side dish has become so popular it can be found in any grocery store or supermarket. However, it’s also very easy to make at home, so make sure you keep this recipe for your next gathering with friends.
Here’s what you need: 6–8 potatoes (about 700 g), boiled in their peel, 2 hard-boiled eggs, 3 onions, 10 pickled cucumbers (or 5 small canned cucumbers).
For the dressing: 2 tbsp of mayonnaise, 2 tbsp of fruit or wine vinegar (5–6%), 1 tbsp of Dijon or other mild mustard, salt, freshly ground black pepper.
Dice the potatoes and eggs, finely chop the onions and cucumbers — the finer, the better.
Combine all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and stir until the salt dissolves.
Dress the salad with this sauce and refrigerate for at least 1 hour — then it's ready to serve.
