‘The Paper’ Cast Was Losing It When ‘The Office’ Big Stars Crashed First Day of Spinoff Shooting

The White Lotus’ Sabrina Impacciatore wasn’t really expecting to be starstruck right on The Paper’s set.
The Office’s employees (except for one) are nowhere to be found in the show’s upcoming spinoff The Paper, but this doesn’t mean the original actors can’t come and visit with a surprise party.
Despite not being linked to The Office’s plot, The Paper will have its events unfolding within the same universe, with the familiar group of documentalists crashing the local newspaper’s editorial office to make The Office-like movie about it.
However, the original series’ leads didn’t mind interrupting the filming process, swinging by to wish everyone luck.
Steve Carell and John Krasinski Visited ‘The Paper’ Cast on Filming Day 1
Even though we still have no idea what Michael Scott and Jim Halpert are up to right now, their actors are still pretty much connected to The Office’s universe.
As one of The Paper’s leads Sabrina Impacciatore, who previously starred in The White Lotus’ season 2, revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, both actors paid a surprising visit to the spinoff’s set when the production started.
“No makeup yet. We are very anxious. Like, oh my God, we’re so scared. And then we hear, knock, knock. Someone enters the trailer, and it’s Steve Carell and John Krasinski! We’re fainting. Like, what? Can you imagine? Isn’t it crazy? The first day of shooting!” the actress said, adding that both actors went to the studio anyway, filming a commercial together.
More than that, the Lavazza coffee ad Carell and Krasinski were starring in also had a direct connection to Impacciatore, who is of Italian origin.
“I thought, this is a blessing. Italian coffee, which is the coffee that I’ve been drinking all my life”, the actress revealed.
Sabrina Impacciatore Needed Steve Carell’s Personal Blessing for ‘The Paper’
Even though it took the actress a while to become familiar with Carell’s Michael Scott in The Office, she quickly became a huge fan of both once she binged the entire series before starting to film The Paper.
However, Impacciatore felt like she couldn’t just get into character without talking to Carell first, which forced her to fly out of Roma to New York to see Steve Carell’s Broadway play Uncle Vanya.
“I went to see the show. I went to the green room. I waited for him. He came out. I was shaking. I said, ‘I’m Sabrina! Can you bless me?’ I needed his blessing [for The Paper]!” Impacciatore admitted, also revealing that the actor was “the sweetest” and she was right to make this hectic decision after all.
The Paper’s entire first season is coming to Peacock on September 4.
